This was a very quaint story. Very light, easy reading. Nothing too heavy for a summer afternoon. As with every Sarah Addison Allen book, I enjoy the depth and insight into human emotion and character. Somehow, Allen captures the essence of who people are, and that intrigues me. With just a touch of fantasy, (and of course, delicious food) this story takes you to a place of mystery and southern charm. I have to say that I wasn’t in love with the whole book, but Allen brought it all together in a hopeful, sweet ending that made me smile.
