Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne (French, 1873) (Fiction - Thriller). One night at the Reform Club in London, Phileas Fogg offers a rash wager: twenty thousand Pounds Sterling that he can circumnavigate the globe in a mere eighty days. When the wager is met, off Fogg goes on the original adventure travelogue. He used every type of conveyance available, but can he make it to the finish line on time? My rating: 7/10, finished 1967.
