Barbara Ehrenreich (author of Nickel & Dimed) takes on the positive thinking advocates in health, business, religion, and government. Exploring the history of "positive thinking" from Mary Baker Eddy and Norman Vincent Peale to today's gurus like Joel Osteen and Rhonda Byrne (The Secret). She exposes the science supporting (or not) the power of positive thinking to 'cure' cancer and how prosperity religion teaches the faithful that God wants you to be rich.

I've read several of Ehrenreich's books and she is known for revealing the foibles of the US society and economy. Her writing is always entertaining and enlightening. Her books stick with you long after you've finished.
