Talk about perfect timing.
I had just completed a depressing, heavy novel, and was in desperate need of something much lighter. I crack open my very first Christopher Moore novel, and it was love at first sentence!
I didnt know what to expect going in, but this book had everything I needed at the exact moment I needed it. It was wacky and crazy, had kooky characters (pot smoking cop, ex b-movie actress who sometimes blurs the line between reality and fantasy, a clueless angel, even a rare fruit bat who dons rayban sunglasses), and a great premise.
Little boy sees 'santa' get taken out with a shovel, prays to god for santa to be ok, and from there the novel grows wings and takes you for an unforgettable ride through Pine Cove.
Not to mention that it a takes place shortly before christmas... festive :)
If you havent read this book yet, get off your duff and grab a copy before the holiday season is over. I think this one will become a yearly read for me...
One funny poi...more
