This is the sweet story of a little girl named Betsy, who learns that the things she was taught to fear are really what bring her the most happiness. In that respect, I love the message of this story. I also liked the idea of finding happiness in simple things and in being 'who you are.'

My main issue with this book, however, is that much of the narration involved long, convoluted sentences that were difficult for young children to follow. It made the story hard to understand (for my kids) and its progression very slow (read: boring.)

The kids asked me to read it, so they must have enjoyed it. Wish I could maybe give it 2.5 stars.
