I really enjoyed this book because it presented a real experience of someone struggling to lose weight. Although I've read other weight loss memoirs in the past, this book really struck a cord with me because of how honest she was about her successes and failures. Jennette is a 24 when she decides to start a weight loss journey after having gallbladder surgery. Through determination and trial and error, she begins to lose the excess weight and eventually becomes a lighter and healthier person. I liked that the book showed that weight loss is a slow progression rather than something that can be done overnight. As she reaches her goals, Jennette is surprised by not only how she changes but how others treat her differently. Through reading half-assed, readers can cheer with Jennette as she goes from being overweight and invisible to being a hero to many.
