This book offers a really nice overview of the partitioning of India and Pakistan in 1947. It's extremely thorough accounting of the events leading up to and following the actual changeover of India and Pakistan from British to independent rule. It does approach the topic from the British perspective, so the text focuses heavily on Lord Mountbatten's role in the events, but it nevertheless does the history justice.

Enjoyable read and I would highly recommend this book if you want to learn more about this period in India's history.
