bookshelves: fluff, creepy-books

From what I recall, a wonderful book, but one of those that you cringe while you are not able to stop reading. If you cannot read about things related to S&M, bondage and the like, then you shouldn't pick this one up. But it is not about glorifying these things. Rather it handles how it affects the psyche, when done to a person not by their choice.

Recynd Alright, I hope you're right...I just ordered a copy from Amazon.

If I don't like it, I'll hold you personally responsible for the $4.00 (and that includes shipping) I spent...

Hell, I'm not difficult to please...and how can sex-fluff go wrong?

Erica Poole LOL, thanks. I think you shall enjoy it, hopefully you like a bit of the dark side with your fluff. I hope you love it, I feel special that someone is getting a book cause of my review! :) This was one of those books that I had completely forgotten, but looking over some of my books made me remember it. I love this site!

Also, loved your comments about audiotapes. I do the same thing. Don't know about the ADD for me, although parents say probably, but I just can't process things I hear as well as I can things I see! Ironically, I am a Sign Language Interpreter. Luckily I can handle things ok most of the time for work, but I really have to make a conscious effort to process things. Sometimes when I am not well rested or whatever, I notice that I can be interpreting for a while, and stop and think "what the hell was it that I just interpreted? ok well the client is nodding and asking appropriate questions, so I must have done it right!" But when I am watching someone sign I do much better!

Anyway, your comments rang very true to me, and made me giggle, so thanks!

Recynd I know I'll like the book; another novel that's "dark fluff" is "The Kindness of Strangers" by K. Kittle (I think...I don't have it in front of me). It's about a child pornography ring in the suburbs; it, too, is a quick read (not particularly well-written, if you ask me), and not horrifyingly offensive, but still dark.

Another thing: though I can't follow most things by listening, I DO type by dictation for a living! It must be a separate part of the brain: I don't need to "listen" to what's being dictated, I just need to "hear" it...if I try to follow too carefully, I get thrown! I bet Signing/interpreting is the same thing.

I'll let you know how I like the book, and your welcome for the giggle!
