This was a contemporary Christian romance novel. The main character, Sophie, is an immigrant from Czechoslovakia. She is fluent in four languages, but none of them are English, and she notes that many Americans base a person's intelligence on how well he or she speaks English when really that is only a sign of how well that person speaks English. That wasn't really the main point of the novel, but it was something I thought was interesting. Probably because I spend a fair amount of time speaking a language I am not fluent in and feeling really frustrated about how dumb I believe I sound.

The main character was a great example of a disciple of Christ and the romance was sweet.

Carolyn I read that book several years ago, and the language scene was one of my favorites, too. She suddenly is prattling away in a stack of foreign languages and the kids think she's brilliant! It made me laugh.
