For it's smut genre, I thought it was pretty creative with incorporating vampires and aliens into the same plot. The premise of the story was nicely done, you have the "tortured" prince and a vampire who suffers from amnesia. 2 troubled people slam into each other, and everything they least expect seems to happen to them. Devyn reminded me of Barney from 'How I met your mother' series only in the sense that they are both egotistical playboys. Unfortunately he did not come with Barney's sense of humour. I wouldn't say this book had any humor in it, really...that kind of flirtation is not very humorous (it didn't even make me chuckle, lets put it that way). I would have rated it higher, if not for the fact that it gets irritating once you have a heroine who can do anything. I mean anything. Showalter obviously wanted to have a goddess for her vampire heroine. And of course, Devyn is the irresistable stud of the story...who happens to be an incompetent king turned intergalactic police...where did that come from?! Anyways ...as a light read, which I happened to be in the mood for,it is quite good and I would recommend this for anyone who wants to pass the time with a light read.
