really liked it
Read from March 13 to 15, 2011

I enjoyed this quite a bit. I kept thinking of Mobile Infantry and Starship Troopers, so it was nice to see the Robert A. Heinlein acknowledgement in the afterword. I was also put in mind of Joe Haldeman, and (for the multiverse bits) Interworld.

It was considerable fun and a credible take on what Starship Troopers might have been, had Heinlein written it 46 years later. But John Perry is absurdly lucky and absurdly capable, and (at least to me as an adult) didn't quite ring true. And I kept stumbling over threads pointing to the next book...

Now I think I need to reread Troopers.
