First off, I have to say that I know the author. He describes his experiences with traveling in China and playing music there during the 1980 and early 90s. Dennis is a terrific writer with a dry sense of humor, and this book, while possibly appealing to a relatively small audience of musicians and/or Chinaphiles, is a good read. I especially appreciated the description of the riots that happened in Chengdu, where he was living, at the same time as the events at Tianneman Square.
