I just could not finish this book... Slow does not even begin to describe the pace set within the pages of this fatal exercise in watching snails race.

The tone, the setting all hint at good things to come, but after page 175 or so of a roughly 250 page book (sorry, I wound up selling it in a garage sale!) there still was no action and very little meaningful dialogue. Perhaps some of the other Commissario Guido Brunetti books will be a bit different, but it may take me some time to muster up enough sleep to sit through a chapter or two of "Quietly in Their Sleep" or "Through a Glass, Darkly".
