Wonderful tales that seem quite old fashioned and have illustrations to match. They are reminiscent of Aesop's fables. The morals of the fables are quite serious, although many of the tales are humorous and silly, with a whimsical nature that will entertain all.

This is the perfect kind of book to read aloud at bedtime. We would read a few of these stories each night and they amused us, and to a lesser extent, taught us a few lessons on life and how to behave.

This book was selected as one of the books for the January 2016- Quarterly Caldecott discussion at the Picture-Book Club in the Children's Books Group here at Goodreads.
