I picked this up from the library looking for something interesting to listen to while I did errands and did house chores.

I made it through the whole story, even though I didn't care for the storyline. The storyline was a brutal and ugly look into the relations between the extremely rich and the working stiffs in a small community in the Eastern US. We begin the story with a murder. The division line is created between the rich and not-so-rich very quickly with how the killing is handled. There were a few surprises but the major storyline was fairly predictable.

The redeeming factor is that Patterson's chapters are short, making it easy to stop and pick up without having to re-read several lines to figure out where you were last at.
