really wasn't a fan of the ending of this book, it seemed as if she hadn't done enough to wrap it up and only had 15 pages to do it. I have a hard time with mysteries that really don't attempt to drop clues that an observant reader could piece together. This told you when Dalgleish had picked something up but didn't allow us in enough.

Also, I realize this was written 20 years before Devices and Desires, but Aunt Dalgleish lives in a completely different place than that book, but yet in it Adam reminisces about the time spent at Auntie's house, and the headland, and sitting up in the windmill. Granted, the time and the headland carry over, but the windmill is in the other house not Pentlands (in this book)...... Continuity things bug me.
