I was so looking forward to reading this--as I love Alison Weir's non-fiction.

But I hit a point here where she threw all possible historical support out the window to write something sordid and insulting to the historical figures--I think for the sake of juicy fiction. I finished the novel, but I just couldn't get past this uncomfortable and unfortunate breach of historical license. It's one thing to write "historical fiction." It's another to utterly disparage people who lived and breathed long ago.
