Ironically, I happened to pick this up yesterday, the day the pilot of the Enola Gay died.
"Barefoot Gen" is a ten-part series based on the author's and author's friends experiences surviving the Hiroshima A-bomb attack. I can't say it any better than the back of the book: "the powerful, tragic, autobiographical story of the bombing of Hiroshima and its aftermath, seen through the eyes of the artist as a young boy growing up in Japan." I read this in one afternoon. I couldn't put it down. I didn't even realize it was Volume 3 when I picked it up. I definitely need to start with Volume 1 and go through the whole series.
