As usual I enjoyed Foley's prose and the detail with which she depicts her Regency setting. I found her protagonists less vivid and dynamic than I would have expected from the example set by her other books, and the plot seemed a bit anemic, more a melodrama than a drama. Still, Foley hits all the emotional high notes, and I got all I expected from this novel.
