it was amazing
bookshelves: to-my-daughters, to-my-sons
Read in April, 2009 , read count: 4

1985-Read it the first time at age 11 or 12. Ireally loved it.
5/97-Enjoyed this for the 2nd time. Good, fun, suspensful, stress-reducing reading. The best part is Bilbo's encounter with Gollum. I especially like the mysterious and ominous power of the ring and the tense, suspensful riddle game. The narrow escape from the spiders was also exciting. Some of the songs are a bit much. Also the dragon could have been a bit harder to destroy.
2001-I read it again, this time to my young daughters for a bedtime story, and when traveling. I wound up reading and then telling a lot of what happened in my own words. The girls were very interested in the story, although they got bored when I would read too long, because they were too young to follow along. I enjoyed reading/telling it immensely, and the girls wound up getting hooked on the story. Ever since, they will often ask me to tell them about Bilbo Baggins.
2008-Read it again, this time to my sons.
2009-Reading it in German.
