Sandra Cisnero wrote this book about a Mexican family living in inner city Chicago on Mango Street, a poor street with run down houses and apartments. Many of the people on the street know and help eachother out. This book might be advertised as a children's book but some of the issues included in the book require a great understanding of a lot of these issues. Sandra Cisneros covers all issues from growing up, sexism, racism, poverty, eviction, family and much more. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in reading a novel about modern issues and how one girl copes with them through her tough life.
