What put me off reading War in the Sun was Tulip’s digression. Sure, the Tulip-Cass encounters are laid out beforehand to build that up to this. But here it’s too sexist given that in Vol one Tulip, before finding Cus again, is totally independent. Another reason was the one-dimensionality of characters. You should know when I say this I am saying it as one having sinfully enjoyed most of Preacher.

To the positives. Preacher is when it's good it's like an infinitely talented writer than Dan Brown writing Da Vinci Code, I mean, if you like ultra-violence top of the Grail, when it's certainly more than that.
