After so many great reviews I had to read it to see what everyone loved about this book. This is the story of Lydia Blessing,Skip, and the baby he finds at his front door one morning. The story is about how Skip falls in love with the mystery baby and how the two of them soften the old routine-loving Mrs. Blessing. The basic story is good, but a great deal of the book explores the pasts of both Lydia and Skip in a way that is very disrupting to the telling of the main story. It deserves a passing greade, because it really did hold my interest. Several of the characters are memorable. It didn't deeply affect me or teach me anything new.I agree with another reviewer that the ending is a bust. It makes me say "if you don't care, why should I?" If your heart is broken, is it really so easy to walk away?
