I have wanted to read this for years, ever since I first read Northanger Abbey. Now I have to read Northanger Abbey again so I can snicker at all the references. ("I wouldn't tell you for ALL the WORLD!")

I saw that another reviewer said that she appreciated this book more than she liked it, and that is my sentiment exactly. I love how Radcliffe threw everything but the kitchen sink in this book. I admire her knack for creating mystery and suspense. I even got a kick out of how often Emily faints, sometimes remaining unconscious for hours. What a talent!

I did not admire the poetry and I skipped most of it.
