This book is on many school reading lists and I recommend it to patrons all the time even though I have never read it. Now that I have, I can recommend it with pleasure.

Charlotte Doyle is a true heroine. She stands up for what she believes in even when those beliefs try to destroy her. When other character's moral compasses waver, Charlotte retaliates against those that try to manipulate her ideas. It is a great adventure story that young girls can not only read, but enjoy.
