"The Siege of Macindaw" by John Flanagan is the sixth book in the "Ranger's Apprentice" series. Leaving off at Alyss's capture and held hostage for Keren, Will and his long time warrior friend, Horace, were devising a plan to siege the castle. Turned out to be, Keren, was making a deal with the northern tribes, the Scotti, to take over castle Macindaw. The problem with this, though, is that Macindaw is like the door between Araluen, Will's land, securing the northern border. If this land fell to the hand of invaders, then castles in nearby regions are going to be invaded. So Will is not only saving his friend, Alyss, but also saving his home from falling into foreigners. Eventually with the help of Skandians, and Malkallam's followers, Will and Horace managed to capture Macindaw. Alyss being saved, finds out that Will loves her from him telling her. This book is very intense with the action, but also a with a little taste of romance. The reason why I gave it four stars is because the ending plot was predictable and that takes the "fun" out of reading it.
