I read "Alive" when I was a teen-ager and the events that transpired had occurred only a couple years prior to the book being published. It had such a huge impact on me that I have read the book numerous times over tha last 20 years.
I must admit that at first I was attracted to this story for the same reason one watches a horror movie- morbid fascination. I read the abridged version in Reader's Digest and was so enthralled that I immediately went out and bought the book to get more details- not about the cannibalsim, but about the people who went through it and what happened up on the mountain. I was and still am in awe of what those men did, esp. Nando Parrado, who is a true hero.
I recommend this book for anyone- or everyone- old enough to understand it. Amazing story...
