PROTAGONIST: Sydney Fitzpatrick, FBI forensic artist
SETTING: Washington, DC, and Rome
SERIES: #2 of 2
RATING: 3.25
WHY: In her role as a forensic artist for the FBI and at the recommendation of a friend, Sydney Fitzpatrick identifies a mutilated woman. Shortly thereafter, her friend is killed in an accident and Sydney is removed from the investigation. Trying to find answers leads Sydney and purported agent Zachary Griffin to uncover secrets harking back a few hundred years and involving a treasure of the Knights Templar. Way too many conspiracies had me lost; required major suspension of disbelief. Burcell did meticulous research, and the plot moved along.
