This is an amazing book by a great and good man. Although it is called an autobiography, it is really more about the plight of the Tibetan people. He lays out the history of how he (the Dalai Lama) came to his own, and how Tibet was taken by the Chinese, what he has done and will continue to do for his people, and the horrors and injustices the people of Tibet have suffered. BUT, he reminds us that it is individuals that are guilty, not all the Chinese people, and that few of the people of China are probably aware of what really happened (and is happening) in China. The Dalai Lama is truly fair-minded and hopeful when it comes to the enemies of his people, and the unconcerned nations of the world.
I cried as I read the end of this book: The atrocities done to the people of Tibet, and how this man who loves his people and his country so much has devoted his life to helping them overcome... with patience, non-violence, and a love for all man.
I hope that everyone will read this book a...more
