Beautifully drawn, well conceived memoir of first love. My problem? I wish Thompson had been more ambitious. A nice memoir is fine, but he has talent to burn and I hope he goes on to tackle more complex stories and ideas.

Wendy I finally decided to take your graphic novel recommendations seriously, Jack, and got this out of the library. I loved it! Finished it in one afternoon, but I think I will go back again and take more time over it. I think you've started me on something!

Jack Cheng Wendy, glad to see I still have the power to corrupt. You can see what else I recommend in the genre on my "bookshelf" but the graphic novel I've recommended most recently (to Julie and a guy in my book club) is Pyongyang -- interesting story and great drawing (a bit more cartoony). Also in the non-fiction realm, the comics journalist Joe Sacco has written some great books about war zones.
