Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. Every story in here was good, every single one, which I can't ever remember thinking about a collection of short stories. He has such a simple style that works better than Hemingway's, for some reason, and no agenda to push, no judgements to make. I normally get bored of super-realistic books, the kind of thing I could stand on a street corner and watch instead of paying money and spending time reading the same things, but this book, for some reason I can't pinpoint, was an exception. Looking forward to reading more by Chekhov.
