I'm pretty sure that the best way of appreciating and reading Macbeth is not to spend four months reading it in class (ok, maybe only three). I hated this book so much when I read it, but I know that I don't hate the story because I was fine with watching the movie. But my 11th grade teacher just killed it, mangled it beyond recognition, and left it as something to be despised. I think high school teachers should have to pass some kind of test or something before they are allowed to inflict possible irrecoible damage on classics of literature through their piss poor pedeogical methods. The same teacher gave a similar treatment to Jane Eyre, another book I cringe at the thought of but that I know has only been ruined by an awful awful teacher.

Greg Hopefully as long as you don't drag out reading the play for months on end, force high schoolers to study the smallest details of every and allow the play to have some life instead of being treated like a corpse that needs to be pulled apart then your throat and students should be fine.
