This is a great book though I cannot fully articulate why - it's a page turner and both Jeff the third person POV of the first novella and the unnamed narrator of the second - presumably Jeff also, but not sure - resonated with me strongly; the Venice/Varanasi descriptions were excellent and while the first part is partly comic, partly erotic and quite explicit, the second part balances it by being partly spiritual and partly very down to earth; high life, modern artificiality and free uninhibited sex, reincarnation, bathing in holy waters, garbage, human secretions and sweat, combine and complement in a mixture that worked tremendously well

Highly, highly recommended and another A+ novel
