Mary's review
Skeleton Crew by Stephen King
Another wonderful collection from King.
I'm a huge fan of his, but this collection of short stories is probably my favorite. The Mist alone is worth the price of the book; I have never been so creeped out and upset by a story in my life as I was when I finished that story. It's more of a novella, really, but it's so good that it doesn't feel long at all.
There are also a few stories that illustrate King's ability to write a story that isn't horror. Oddly enough, I almost enjoy those stories more than his scarier offerings. He has such a wonderful way with words, and such a graceful way of sketching characters with just a few strokes. This is a great book for King virgins, as it contains a little bit of everything that he has to offer.
