Recommended for: a less than shallow person.
Read in October, 2007

This book burned a hole in my brain. I had heard of Coetzee through his winning the Nobel Prize, and through friends, and decided to pick up one of his more celebrated books. Not only does the man write in a measured prose that just flows by in your minds eye, but his subject matter is deadly serious, deeply affecting, and dark. Very dark.
