I wanted to love this book. It had all the ingredients of a great mystery/thriller. The problem is (or should I say "problem is," something the author had his characters say to sound more natural and only succeeded in sounding annoying), none of it rang true for me. The world he created was believable to an extent but the characters, what they said and how they spoke, were not. He had one idea and had to work too hard to fill in all the details and pull it off. I figured almost everything out halfway through the book. Without giving anything away, I can safely say that others have done this type of thing in a much better, more believable way. If I could have given it 2.5 stars I would have, the half-star for keeping my interest long enough that by the time I was annoyed by the book to the point that I wanted to give up, I was so far along it would have been silly not to finish reading it. Nice try. Better luck next time. Maybe the movie will be better.
