Too Much Happiness
by Alice Munro
by Alice Munro
I was telling Josh that I couldn't put my finger on why I found this book so compelling -- and he was telling me about the first story in the collection, which I didn't remember AT ALL. ?! !
What I do know is that I listened to the stories probably a total of three times, going back and going back in order to make sure I was listening fully. Which says how tightly these are woven, how much one sentence leads to the next.
I trust Alice Munro. She gets the humanity of us who mean well.
Alas, I was not enthralled with the final story, though I feel Ohio-pride that it was an Ohio University book that led her to the story.
