Wow! This was head and shoulders above the first one. The first part of this book was shaping up to be a three, but once the plot kicked in (much earlier than in the last one) I couldn't put it down. I started to really like these characters -- they gained some depth and had something to do other than brood over each other. She stopped being silly and started killing things. He developed more of a personality. All around much better. I'm actually interested in reading the third when it comes out.

To make sure I'm being clear -- it still isn't breathtaking amazing fantastic. But it had me gripped. I debated about the rating for awhile and went with four because I really feel like it pulled it off for me. It's still not quite up to par with the Mercy books, but it's getting there. On that note, I think I'm being inconsistent with my ratings. Whatever.
