Reading Hemingway is like getting rythmicaly punched in the chest with a brick. I understand his style is short and sweet, but it's hard to get into a reading rhythm.

As far as the book goes it was very good I wish I could give it 3 1/2 stars; but it seems that a general knowledge of post-war Parisian ex-pat writers is a good idea.

667884 What? What are you saying? This is an awesome book! His prose is amazing, and his deadpan veiws of all the other fucked up authors around him make a look into his life all the sweeter.

Nophoto-f-25x33 Just finished it & feel like I'd have enjoyed it a lot more if I'd read all those authors (I can only check off Fitzgerald). His recounting of daily minutia along with insights into the lives of others feels like reading someone's journal- kind of interesting, kind of boring. The Sun Also Rises is turning out to be better.
