The Not So Big House: A Blueprint for the Way We Really Live by Sarah Susanka
This book reaffirmed everything I learned while living in Europe - we are too attached to our square footage in the US, and it's killing our families and communities. Siblings SHOULD share rooms, families should have rooms they gather all together in instead of just passing in the halls. If we had smaller homes, maybe kids would be able to walk to school and we wouldn't be as worried about sprawl!
