Although this book started with a good plot and had many good ideas it was plagued by a terrible opening chapter, an uninteresting love triangle of 60 year-olds that no nerd reading science fiction would care about, and some pretty useless political points. I have a hard time being interested in real politics let alone fake Mars politics. I liked the whole point of building a new society and terraforming Mars but it left me with a lack of desire to read the sequel Green Mars.
