This is the fifth installment of the Mercy Thompson books. This book takes place a few months after the last book. Mercy receives a call about the powerful book that she had to borrow in the previous story. She finds the store boarded up. Samuel needs someone to cover for him and his struggles with his wolf-side. Adam and Mercy have had a stilted relationship and their mate bond is under attack. There is a fae gunning for Mercy and her book, a takeover attempt of Adam, and Samuel’s struggle with his wolf. It is a busy few days, where Mercy loses her home to fire, Adam has to fight, and she must rescue Gabriel. This book is very detailed and moves the storyline along greatly. This is a great addition to the Mercy Thompson series.
