It is a wonderful book for learning more about the Civil War time period. Thomas is the main character. He moves in to a new house with his family and learns many things about the house. It was a very strange, old house. There is a ghost involved with the entire story. This novel is extremely adventurous because of all the characters and the plot. It is also a bit mysterious because in some parts of the book, it is difficult to predict what would happen next. The lessons are focused on discrimination and prejudice which is wrong. It has a few historical facts from the time period also. The novel is a classic, and it is worth reading.
