The story is imaginative; a creative fantasy. Main character acts nobly as usual.

Language is not the best in this book. The author is a white man who has black friend who wants him to write a book with a black hero. That's not too bad. Bad is creating the typical black as raunchy, violent, or easily led sheep.

I not crazy about the author's treatment of religion. Card often portrays conventional Christians in a way that someone could get the impression that all Christianity is not real although his stories may have been meant to have readers question what is real in their own religion.
