I absolutely loved it. Of course, she mentions the very block that I live on in the first chapter, and one of the subway lines I ride in the very last chapter, and the rest of the book was filled with Brooklyn geographic reference points that I recognized. Which is always fun.

I recommend it to anyone. There is not much to the story. Just a detailed portrait of a girl's coming of age in Brooklyn in the years leading up to WWI. But the prose is lovely and magical. A classic for a reason.
