This is a review for both the original and the DK Eyewitness version. I hate it when Goodreads does this, where *all* the versions of a book, even condensed or picture-book versions, are clumped together and you can't review the separately! The language and pace of the original was too much for Logan, who was almost 6 when we tried it. But I ended up finding a DK Eyewitness book with a Cliffs Notes-style synopsis of the story and some nice schematics, drawings, and photos to help young kids understand about the time, technology and people of the Jules Verne world. That was a hit. Will definitely try the original again much later though, as I think it's important to have exposure to older styles of writing. Sure wish I could have those listed separately; the DK as "read" and the original as "to read."
