Straight Man: A Novel by Richard Russo
i've read this book multiple times now (as of 22 april 07 on my third read) - it happened upon my radar as most of my favorite novels - per ava's recommendation. the protagonist and his wife are dead-ringers for me and my boyfriend...except i'm the one more prone to eccentric behavior - needless to say i am also the former academic in the relationship.
