This is a "daily devotional readings" book, and apparently became so popular that it is still a bestseller. The Petersens say that is because Chambers talked so practically, with "brisk clarily, ... crisp language, the touch of humour, and .. practical commentary" and that this compared extremely favourably with the other options available.

It was his wife who collected material from his talks and sermons, and then had them published in this form. Chambers himself died in 1917.

I can see, as in so many of the cases of these books that I'm reading our of this list (100CBCC), how it would be very popular. But again, it's not my thing. So I browsed a few, and that was that.

I think I should write my own Daily Devotional sometime...
