The introductory chapter (that addresses "you", the reader) charmed me right away and at first I enjoyed the 'gimmick' of the story. After long enough the charm wore off and the book seemed to just be alternating wild philosophy with narrative frustration, so it admittedly took me a few extra...weeks? or was it months? finish properly. And it goes off-the-rails, "Third Policeman"-style crazy near the end, which is also difficult to follow.

HOWEVER: The final 'twist', if you can call it that, was a neat revelation and in the end I think I liked the book more than I didn't. It is very clever, and clever always gets points in my book.
