I had seen the commercials for the movie 'The Lovely Bones' but had never picked up the book. I recalled hearing about it a little but it seemed to always slip out of my mind and remain unread. The commercials for the movie renewed my curiosity and I found myself checking this out at the Library at the college where I work. I was not disappointed. I'm one of those people who nearly always has to read the book before I see the movie and this was no exception (though I still haven't seen the movie yet). This book was beautifully written. It was heartbreaking, suspenseful and captivating; all the things that make a story great. Alice Sebold's versions of Heaven were fascinating, elaborately thought out. Though I was disappointed that the murderer was never caught, vindication came in the form of Karma later down the line (you'll just have to read to find out what I'm talking about). I highly recommend this one. One of my all time favorites now.
